Littler hires its first chief data analytics officer
Littler Mendelson hired Aaron Crews to be the firm’s first chief data analytics officer.
“One of the most significant trends affecting our industry is the rise of legal operations teams within corporate law departments,” said Crews in a press release. “The opportunity to create a legal operations role within a law firm was too good to pass up.”
Crews, based in Sacramento, California, will work with the global director of data analytics and data analysts to manage the firm’s data analytics practice and help implement new technologies.
“Aaron’s addition comes at an important time for Littler and the legal industry as a whole, as the use of data analytics to guide business and legal decisions only continues to grow,” Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, said in the press release.
Beyond creating this role, Littler, a labor and employment firm, in 2010 developed CaseSmart, a repository for data created by a client’s legal issues that is used for trendspotting.
Crews was previously the general counsel and vice president of strategy at Text IQ, a technology company focused on legal and compliance issues. He was also the global head of eDiscovery for Walmart and had previously been a partner at Littler.
