The legal services industry gained 2,000 jobs in May after disappointing April numbers.
The industry had 1,143,000 jobs in May, up from 1,141,000 jobs in April, according to seasonally adjusted numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
But April was a down month. The legal services sector lost 1,800 jobs that month, down from 1,142,800 jobs in March. That means the legal industry has gained 200 jobs since March.
The May numbers represent a year-over-year gain of 3,000 jobs. In May 2018, the legal industry had only 1,140,000 jobs.
The American Lawyer has coverage. According to its story, the legal services industry “has hovered around the 1.14 million mark since December of 2016, with slight movement each month, but no significant change in either direction.”
