Lawyer's Mom Says She Saw Estranged Husband Kill Her Daughter in Murder-Suicide
The mother of a Texas lawyer reportedly shot to death over the weekend says she witnessed the murder-suicide by Arden Anne Specia-Spencer’s estranged husband.
“He just pulled out a gun and shot her right in the head,” the mother, 79-year-old Mary Specia, told the San Antonio Express News yesterday.
Then her daughter’s husband, Mark Spencer, 53, pointed the gun at himself and fired, says Specia, who called 911.
Cornal County authorities have declined to state the cause of death, pending autopsy results, but have said they are not seeking any suspects.
Spencer was the 52-year-old lawyer’s second husband, and they had two children together, boys aged 9 and 10. The couple had been married over a decade.
The slayings took place at a lake home owned by the couple, where Specia-Spencer was staying with the boys for the weekend and Spencer suddenly showed up, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Reynolds.
The couple were in the midst of a divorce and there was a record of domestic violence allegations by Specia-Spencer. However, a jury acquitted Spencer in September on a charge of assault with bodily injury.
