Lawsuit Alleges Lawyer's Parents and Grandma Are Liable for His Murder of Partner's Ex-Wife
A Dallas lawyer who pleaded guilty to murder on Friday is a defendant in a wrongful death suit by the victim’s family that also names his parents and his 92-year-old grandmother.
The suit claims that the parents and grandmother of lawyer Scott Marshall knew or should have known of his dangerous propensities and failed to warn the victim, Staci Michelle Montgomery, Texas Lawyer reports. Montgomery was the ex-wife of Marshall’s former law partner.
Marshall pleaded guilty on Friday and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, according to Texas Lawyer and the Dallas Morning News. His parents have filed an answer to the suit that says Texas law does not hold parents liable for the torts of an adult son.
