Employees at the Kansas City, Mo., municipal court say they were asked to submit to DNA tests and polygraph exams after the presiding judge had her iPhone stolen and another judge had $79 stolen from her purse.

Three police detectives were assigned to investigate, the Kansas City Star reports. “Some court employees questioned the response as a bit too much,” the newspaper says.

A police spokesman, Capt. Rich Lockhart, said he has not heard of any arrests in the July 14 thefts. He said the crime is unusual because the items were taken from the judges’ secure chambers. Sending three detectives is “not a typical response, but it’s not a typical crime, either,” Lockhart told the newspaper.
