Illinois Law Prof Launches Give Blog, Plans to Donate Up to $50K
University of Illinois law professor Suja Thomas has launched a blog with her husband to motivate themselves and others to give away more money to charity.
The blog is called The Give Blog: Conscious Living and Giving, according to TaxProf Blog. Thomas and her husband, Scott Bahr, write in their first post: “With this blog, we are writing about how we can, on a daily basis, live our lives in such a way to enable us to give more. In living this way thus far, we have felt much more fulfilled from giving than we did from consuming.”
Thomas and Bahr are pledging to give away up to $50,000 to five charities by the end of this year by matching donations of $100 from new contributors, for a total of up to $10,000 to each charity. The charities are The Hunger Project, The Grameen Foundation, Safe Passage, Catholic Charities USA and the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.
