Ex-Gibson Dunn Lawyer, a Harvard Law Grad, Among 26 Arrested in 'Truly Sickening' Child Porn Sting
A former associate at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher is among 26 people recently arrested in what the Manhattan district attorney is describing as a group that allegedly traded, via the Internet, “truly sickening” images of child sexual assault.
Moshe Gerstein, 35, pleaded not guilty to two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and five counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child. He apparently is no longer with the law firm after his May 10 arrest, according to the Am Law Daily and New York Law Journal (reg. req.).
An alumnus of Yale University and Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2001, he worked at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom before moving to Gibson Dunn in 2008. Gibson Dunn has no immediate comment, reports the Am Law Daily, noting that Gerstein appears to have left the firm, since he is no longer included on its Web listing of attorneys.
DA Cyrus Vance Jr. said most of the defendants didn’t know each other and used a specialized file-sharing service on the Web to trade the child pornography the “way others trade baseball cards,” according to CBS New York and Reuters.
