Frost Brown Todd has announced that the 475-attorney law firm is opening its first office in Pennsylvania, with 10 lawyers who previously worked for Burleson.

Burleson, an energy-focused law firm based in Houston, announced earlier that it plans to close its doors by the end of the year.

The new Frost Brown Todd office in Pittsburgh will be headed by Kevin Colosimo. The group also includes Andrew Jenkins, who was formerly in charge of the Burleson litigation practice in Pittsburgh, and a mergers, acquisitions and due diligence team.

“These lawyers are directly responsible for billions of dollars in asset transactions across Appalachia. Adding the depth and experience of Frost Brown Todd means we can handle more of the large, highly-sophisticated oil and gas transactions for our clients,” said Colosimo in a Frost Brown news release.

Including the new Pittsburgh office, Frost Brown Todd will have 12 offices in eight states: Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

The firm has a history dating back as far as 1917, but has grown considerably during the past 15 years, a law firm web page notes. In 2000, it was formed via a merger of Ohio-based Frost & Jacobs and Kentucky-based Brown, Todd & Heyburn. Then, in 2008, a further merger with Locke Reynolds of Indiana took place.
