The FBI has raided the offices of an Indianapolis lawyer-turned-financier who was featured on the CNBC feature “Rise of the Super Rich.”

The FBI raided two businesses of “flamboyant lawyer” Timothy Durham: Obsidian Enterprises in Indianapolis and Fair Financial in Akron, Ohio, the Indianapolis Star reports. The article says Durham is a leveraged buyout specialist and calls him a “flashy financier” who once said he longs to die as the richest man on earth.

Durham owns “posh homes” in Miami and Los Angeles, according to the story. He also reportedly collects expensive cars, travels on private jets and relaxes on a 100-foot yacht.

Durham worked at the Ice Miller law firm, but left to work for his father-in-law, a wealthy entrepreneur, the story says.

One of Durham’s investment partners came under scrutiny last year. Indianapolis businessman Dan Laikin was accused of a scheme to artificially inflate the stock value of National Lampoon, the story says. Durham, who also invested in the company, was not accused of any wrongdoing.

The story says Durham is regarded as a close friend of Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi and a major campaign contributor to Gov. Mitch Daniels.

But Durham’s “flashy style and bawdy parties sometimes raised eyebrows,” the story says.

“Durham’s page on MySpace, a social networking site, revealed an R-rated pajama party in 2007,” according to the story. “The page showed two naked women kissing and reported that Penthouse magazine model Martina Warren was in attendance.”
