After rising in June, legal sector employment drops by 2,100 jobs
The number of jobs in the legal services section seesawed this summer, increasing by 3,200 in June and then dropping by 2,100 in July, according to revised, seasonally adjusted numbers released Friday by the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The revised figures show the legal services sector employed 1,136,300 lawyers and other legal workers in May; 1,139,500 in June; and 1,137,400 in July.
The American Lawyer points out that the July jobs number is still 1,100 more than the number reported in May and 2,000 higher than reported in July 2017.
