18 Lawyers Join Best Best & Krieger as McDonough Dissolution Nears End
Best Best & Krieger’s Sacramento office will double its numbers when it picks up 18 municipal, land use and redevelopment lawyers from the now-defunct McDonough Holland & Allen on Sept. 1.
The group, which includes McDonough’s CEO, is the latest to find a new home as McDonough winds down the largest law firm closure in Sacramento history, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.
The agreement follows a series of lawyer and staff acquisitions by other firms since McDonough announced its dissolution in June. The firm suffered a large number of partner defections earlier this year and could not secure the revenue to cover expenses, according to the Business Journal.
Firms that have added McDonough lawyers to their ranks include 18 to Boutin Gibson De Gusto Hodell; 13 to Burke, Williams & Sorensen; 11 to Hanson Bridgett, and seven to Weinstraub Genshlea Chediak, among others.
“We are trying very hard to get a handle on the numbers,” Ed Quinn, McDonough’s CEO, told the Business Journal of the lawyers and staff who haven’t secured new positions. “Some are definitely still looking …we’re trying to do as much as we can to help.”
