Avvo founder and CEO Mark Britton is stepping down from the company after it was acquired by Internet Brands in January.
In an email promoting next month’s Lawyernomics conference in Las Vegas, Britton revealed that he is “turning the reins over to new leadership,” according to Bob Ambrogi’s LawSites blog.
Internet Brands already runs the Martindale-Nolo Legal Marketing Network, launched in 2016, and utilizes content from Nolo.com to serve as a lead generator for attorneys. Internet Brands’ online legal services also include Ngage, a live chat platform, and Total Attorneys, a lead generation system for lawyers.
At the time of the acquisition, Britton told the ABA Journal that he he intended to stay with the company.
Britton founded Avvo in 2006 after a stint as senior vice president and general counsel of Expedia, which was sold in 2003. Within a year of that sale, Britton left his role at the company.
Britton was named an inaugural ABA Legal Rebel in 2009.
Britton did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
